The Future

Here at the furniture project we are always looking towards the future and thinking about how we can be better in the future.

We are always looking at new markets we can get involved in, but the main theme is underpinned by the social enterprise concept, long term unemployed people into jobs created by accessing contracts and the element of training.

Our partnerships with different organisations and research we do is the key to our ongoing development, over the past five years we researched the need for the services we have set up by asking the people who it would benefit the most , the community of Wigtownshire. We asked them what they would want us to do, and they responded really well enabling us to provide services that are beneficial to the community.
We asked the community if a low cost removal service was needed and we got an overwhelming reply of YES!
We did the same when we realised that there was a gap in our own services in the Machars, we asked the community if they felt it was a good idea to open another centre in the Machars area and again we got an overwhelming reply of YES! This linked nicely with business mapping for the future so we opened another centre in Newtown Stewart.

We are always thinking of new ways to serve the community of Wigtownshire and at the moment we are looking into a number of different ideas like, the gardening project which we are working with Dumfries and Galloway housing partnership (DGHP) and trying to extend the contract. As part of our plans to extend our services we are planning to make part of the centre in Stranraer
Into a recycling centre for the community.
We are also moving to new premises in Stranraer in the near future as well as buying our premises in Newtown Stewart so we can serve the people of the Machars on a permanent basis.
